Andrew Walker - director

Andrew joined Dobson, Mitchell & Allport as an apprentice in 1990, and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1991. He became a partner in 2003 and is a director.

Andrew has practised almost exclusively in the commercial litigation area since his admission. He specialises in corporations law and insolvency work, as well as securities litigation. He acts for local Councils and private clients in prosecuting offences, and provides advice on local government, environmental legislation and planning schemes. He appears in the Supreme Court and the Federal Court, the Resource Management and Planning Appeals Tribunal and Conduct Tribunals.

He advises clients, both private and government, on specific statutory schemes, such as long service leave, public health legislation, and professional conduct.

His other litigious experience includes insurance, workers compensation and other statutory compensation, professional negligence, contractual claims and general civil litigation.

He has been a committee member of the Tasmanian Bar Association, a member of the Board of Legal Education and a member of the Professional Conduct Committee of the Nursing Board of Tasmania.

He was a director of Arthritis Foundation of Australia Limited and President of the Arthritis Foundation of Tasmania Inc.
