Rob graduated from the University of Tasmania with a combined commerce and law degree in 1989 and was admitted to practice in 1990. He joined Dobson, Mitchell & Allport in 1995, becoming a director in 2002.
Rob practises in civil litigation with particular emphasis on insurance related matters. He also has extensive experience in personal injuries litigation and workers compensation claims and compulsory third party motor vehicle claims. He appears in the Supreme Court, Workers Rehabilitation & Compensation Tribunal & Motor Accidents Compensation Tribunal.
He is one of the architects of a compensation scheme which has been established for one of his clients & he manages claims made under that scheme. In addition he has experience in providing advice with respect to public sector pensions & disability entitlements.
Rob has also appeared in Coronial inquests & he has acted for companies & businesses charged with breaches of work place health & safety legislation & environmental legislation.
Rob is a past secretary and committee member of the Tasmanian Bar Association and is a member of the Law Society of Tasmania. He is a past State Treasurer of the Australian Insurance Law Association ("AILA") & is currently the State Chairman, a position he has held for the past 6 years. He is a national board member of AILA and is currently the national treasurer in an acting capacity due to illness of a fellow board member.
