The commercial division has many years' expertise in preparation of loan and security documentation. We act for major financial institutions including banks, credit unions, trustee companies and superannuation funds. We are regularly asked to provide assistance and advice to firms who require specialised knowledge of Tasmanian law.

Our primary focus is on the mortgage industry, and this includes mortgages of leases and other interests in land. We have a wide range of experience in advising on and preparing other securities including debentures, bills of sale and charges over assets as diverse as fishing licences and heavy machinery.

We also have a large practice in the area of defaults and the enforcement of securities, which we have developed over many decades. We aim to make this sometimes difficult process as time and cost efficient as possible.
